ARMY OF WELDERS

FOR NEW GARRISON

Aluminium roof welding specialist MR Site Services has just finished site manufacture and welding of thousands of cranked sheets for Phase One of the army's £550 million new-build Colchester Garrison. Prater Limited was responsible for the pitched roofs on 28 of the new garrison buildings, brought in as envelope specialist and Kalzip approved Team Kal contractor. Gavin Swanson, Prater's senior project manager for Colchester Garrison explained, To ensure the highest quality and aesthetics we opted to weld the Kalzip 400mm module sheets to form the crank. We used MR Site Services for this, having worked alongside the company before on other high calibre projects and because MR Site Services has a very good reputation for quality of workmanship.

MR Site Services manufactured all the cranked sheets on the ground increasing production as demand required, so that they were installed pre-welded for quality of finish. The company carried out over 300 welded metres to various details including laps, tapers and abutments as well as over 200 aluminium soakers throughout the roofing.

Commenting on the work, Mr Swanson adds, ?We are extremely pleased with the quality and level of service. Everything was delivered on time and on budget.?

As well as aluminium welding of seams and soakers, MR Site Services provides consultancy and design assistance, site reports and testing on roofing projects. It also manufactures walkway systems and access hatches and constantly innovates methods for improving the performance of roof architecture.
